Cattle exports from Georgia country continue to grow

For the second year in a row, cattle exports from Georgia have been growing markedly. In January-February 2021, growth compared to the same period of 2020 year amounted to 31% - in this period of 2020 year cattle exports in value terms amounted to $2, 5 million, while in 2021 there were exported at $3,2 million.

In turn, in 2020, the growth of cattle exports compared to the same period in 2019 increased by 24, 2% and amounted to $27, 8 million. 12,104 Mt of live cattle were exported, while in 2019 only 11,821 Mt.

The main export markets for cattle from Georgia country in 2021 were Azerbaijan and Iraq - in particular, cattle exports to Azerbaijan in value terms were $1, 312 million ($1, 308 million in the same period of 2019), $1, 19 million to Iraq ($1, 308 million in 2019).

It should also be noted that in order to prevent the export of too young calves abroad, which could in the near future completely deprive the country of cattle, export of animals weighing less than 140 kg, later – less than 200 kg, has been forbidden.
