US beef exports declined compared with summer

Exports of US beef declined compared with what was in the summer, but still remains higher than last year. The total export volume of fresh / frozen beef in October was 89,977 metric tons, which is 4.7% higher than a year ago.

The value of exports of beef and veal from the United States in October amounted to 645 million dollars, which is 56 million dollars or 9.4% higher than a year ago. The demand for US beef in the world market throughout the year was very high, and the best evidence of this is the increase in the cost of export sales of beef.

South Korea and Japan stimulated the growth of US beef exports for most of the year, and October was no different from previous periods. Exports to South Korea amounted to 19,010 tons, which is 2,719 metric tons or 17% higher than a year ago.

Beef exports to Japan amounted to 22,043 metric tons, which is 2,077 metric tons or 10% higher than last year. Mexico is the third largest market for American beef, and exports to this market in October amounted to 12,633 metric tons, which is 4% higher than a year ago. At the same time, the value of American beef exports to Mexico increased by 14% compared to last year’s levels. Mexico is the largest buyer of meat products from the US (offal, etc.).

 
In October, exports of high-quality meat from the United States amounted to 27,865 metric tons, which is 10% more than last year. The increase in exports of high-grade meat added $ 9.4 million to the overall increase in exports of beef and meat products in October.
