Russia to ban all imports of beef from Brazil starting 1 December due to ractopamine findings
From December 1, 2017 Russia Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (VPSS) bans Brazilian pork and beef imports into Russia. The reason of the Brazilian pork, beef, pork and beef variety meat imports ban was racto residues found in pork and beef imports from Brazil.
Russia legislation forbids usage of ractopomine and other stimulators of muscle growth in products for human consumption. Imports into Russia of ready-to-eat products with additives residue are either prohibited.
Over three years Brazil has been a top meat exporter to Russia. However this year fall Russia VPSS discovered prohibited growth promotants in meat imports from Brazil. For settlement of situation and for receipt of reliable information the Russia VPSS sent on November 16 a proposal to the Brazilian Ministry of agricultural, meat products and supply to conduct negotiation in shortest possible time, but still has no reply from Brazil..
