Meat consumption in Kazakhstan increased by 7% over the year

In January of this year, Kazakhstan's meat producers produced 21.8 thousand tons of meat, which is 16.5% more than a year earlier. The main production is concentrated in Almaty (29.6% from Kazakhstan), East Kazakhstan (17.3% from Kazakhstan) and Akmola (15.1% from Kazakhstan) regions. Recall that, according to the results of 12 months of last year, output in the sector increased by 12% over the year.

According to last year’s data, meat producers in the country cover demand by 83.2%. With a high level of provision of domestic needs for meat products in a noticeable plus export - immediately by 89% per year. However, this is only 1.4% of the resources used.

Former Minister of Agriculture, Umirzak Shukeyev, urged farmers to increase the country's export potential and argued that indicators for meat supplies could be doubled. According to the ministry, in 2018 beef exports amounted to 19.9 thousand tons, exceeding the level of 2017 by 3.6 times. This year, the plan for the export of beef is 25 thousand tons, but the Ministry of Agriculture expects to overtake the plan and export at least 30 thousand tons.

In addition, the department is counting on the growth of exports of lamb, as well as pork - mainly in the Chinese direction.

The Ministry of Agriculture reminded that since the second half of the year 2018 a special preferential loan product “Syba?a” was launched. For 6 months, received loans and entered the program more than 600 family meat farms.

The demand for meat in the domestic market is also growing: sales of meat and meat by-products increased by 4.1% per year in 2018, consumption of meat and meat products by 6.7%, to 19 kg per person for the third quarter of 2018.
