Meat Cattle livestock numbers in Russia increased by 1.3%

Over nine months of 2019 cattle livestock inventories for slaughter in live weight in all types of facilities accounted 1705.5 thousand Mt, RF Agricultural Ministry reports.

The number grew 1.3 % or 21.2 thousand Mt. Overall beef production of meat and interbreed cattle increased by 8.1 % or 315.4 thousand Mt.

Agricultural enterprises ramped up meat production by 15.1 thousand Mt (+2.1%) to 724.6 thousand Mt, production in peasant-based agriculture (farm) facilities was 10.5 thousand Mt (+6.3%) up to 176.0 thousand Mt.

As of October 1, 2019, meat and interbreed cattle livestock in all types of farming entities accounted 3959.6 thousand head. This is 110.8 thousand head (2.9%) up y-o-y. It’s expected that high quality beef production in the future will be growing at the cost of development of the meat cattle breeding.
